Synopsis
The Dark Knight of Gotham meets the fiercest killer in the universe and becomes hunter's prey himself as the bloodcurdling menace of the Predator reaches right into the dark underworld of Gotham City, lair of the Batman.
Customer Reviews
The best ever crossover for either character.
Two characters were never as beautifully suited to be matched against one another as here.
The Batman comics always had a darker edge than say Superman's and into the dark gothic city that he guards comes a brutal killer. The detective nature of Batman stories also works well with the Predator, capturing the suspense of the films and not succumbing to brawling for the sake of brawling. That said, when the two title roles clash, the fights are fantastic, with each proving the other's measure in different ways.
The art is both dark and excellently detailed and adds an air of power both to the alien hunter and the Dark Knight (wait until you see the latter's cool battle-armour).
The finale is stunning and not only captures the true nature of the Predators, but vividly recaptures the ending of Predator 2.
Brilliant.
Absolutely Brilliant
I bought this a while ago because i collect predator books, and found out that Batman himself is a pretty cool customer, a great read for anyone with a good imagination. (p.s the other 2 are pretty good too!!) (p.p.s this could easily be a film)
A damned good read.
The ultimate hunter vs the ultimate human. An unseen assailant murders the winner of the Gotham heavy weight championship, then slaughters everybody who trained at his gym. Then mob enforcers and mob bosses die, moving higher and higher in the food chain of Gotham's organised crime syndicates. Each victim is found without his head and spinal column - could they have been taken as trophies?
The Batman encounters the "See-Through Slasher", and then, when the Predator recognises a worthy opponent, the hunt is on.
Written by Dave Gibbons, an extremely capable writer and artist (Frank Miller's Martha Washington stories, early Rogue Trooper from 2000AD), writes a story on a par with The Predator, and much better than Predator II. All the characters from the Batman half of the franchise work as they should. Andy Kubert's art is as good as always, inked by his brother, Adam (both are the sons of the legendary Joe Kubert).
Short version: if you like The Batman, or The Predator movies, or ideally both, buy and read this. You won't regret it.
