Synopsis
For the first time, Patrick Macnee tells all! The never-before revealed secrets of the hit TV series The Avengers are laid bare by the man who played John Steed in no less than seven series of the show. . Lavishly illustrated, with many unpublished stills, behind-the-scenes photos, and snaps from Macnee's private collection, this is a very personal portrait of the world's best-loved cult action-adventure series.

The Avengers: The Inside Story
If you've already got the book 'The Avengers and Me', don't buy this book as its just a reprint under a different name. This version is a hard-back, but otherwise its the same as the other book which was published back in 1997.
A Fans View
It's is almost but not quite the "tell-all" people may have expected.
Overall it is a pleasant and occasionally enlightening read, with a delightful and generous assortment of b&w and color photos and illustrations, many previously unpublished. Comments contributed by the show's writers and directors add depth and insight. Perhaps one of the few weakness of the book is Mr. Macnee's frequent tendency to make long-winded apologies to his co-stars for either saying/doing something to offend them and/or not saying/doing something to support them. It's also a shame that he had to tread so carefully--there certainly are hints at larger issues that could do with some additional detail. At any rate, it is recommended to any fan.
