Amazon.co.uk Review
Though Bruce Wayne is the one, true Batman, it's a tempting thought to see the Mantle of the Bat as one that stretches throughout time, adopted by many brave souls. Given the Dark Knight's knack for blending in with the times over six decades, placing him in vastly differing historical settings is appealing, and, as Batman Beyond has proved, successful. Perfect fodder for the Elseworlds format, Dark Knight Dynasty-writer Mike W. Barr (Son of the Demon) has crafted an enjoyable saga of Bat-adventures through the ages stretching from the Crusades to the present day to the distant future of 2500. The linking strand is the Wayne family's generational battle with the evil Immortal Vandal Savage and, despite his rent-a-villain status in the DC pantheon, he makes for a charismatic, enigmatic adversary. Of the three, Dark Past fares the best, bolstered by Scott Hampton's gorgeous painted art which complements the suitably grim façade of the Medieval Dark Knight, Joshua of Wainright. Elsewhere, Dark Present, with the Bruce Wayne Batman is a by-the-numbers affair while the concluding Dark Future sees Brenna Wayne adopting her family legacy as Batwoman, along with an intelligent ape as Robin. Fused as a whole, it is Barr's streamlined style mixed with his malleable view of the Bat-mythos that makes this an enjoyable entry in the Elseworlds series. --Danny Graydon

Excellent title all round
This book is fantastic. The three artists are all excellent and all manage to capture the dark brooding atmosphere. The plot is brilliant if a little weird in places. Overall, this is a great all round buy and the interesting perspective the plot presents is very welcome.
Decent offering to the Bat legacy
The comic starts off good with the medieval ages, the plot is amazing but then it starts to dissapoint as it progresses to the present and future. The present totally deviates from what Batman is and how he came to be which is irritating if your a fan of Batman. The futuristic part has some interesting ideas on what Gotham would look like but again fails to deliever. Generally, the Bat here is depicted as being more of an totally normal person and then suddenly becoming a hero. There is no sense of continuity between the different times, no Bat - legacy. Overall not a bad read but can be annoying to loyal fans.
fantastic art work
i`d ummed and arghed about this book for ages and it was bought as a gift. well all i could say is wow.the artwork was dark and gritty with real depth.
the story was`nt the most gripping i`d ever read but was certainly worth a read the fact of having an eternal adversary and the three seperate generations of the bat was an intersting combo.
my only point was the last robin character what on earth.
but if you fancy a different read this is for you.
