The first part of the book provides the background, explaining how musical activities can help to stimulate skills in other areas such as language and communication, describing a range of basic instruments, and outlining the approach. It emphasizes the fact that prior knowledge of music is not needed, and also provides a choice of very accessible ways for parents to approach music themselves, to give them the confidence to make music with their child. The second part of the book describes, in detail, 13 musical activities, with ideas for variations and further developments.

About the Author
Elaine Streeter is a state registered music therapist and an approved supervisor for the Association of Professional Music Therapists UK. She is a part time Senior Lecturer in Music Therapy at Anglia Polytechnic University and Clinical Tutor at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London where she teaches music therapy.
