A H Baverstock was one of the first Guardians of the Shrine of Our Lady at Walsingham. He died in 1950.

This splendid volume, published as part of the 'Classics of Anglo-Catholic Devotion' series, is a valuable companion in daily prayer. Father Baverstock, a long term parish priest, Hospital chaplain and Master of the priests Society of the Holy Cross, brought to this work a lifetime of both study in Patristics and practical experience of helping people to pray through the crisis of life. Each day of the liturgical year has a short, sometimes terse passage from the Fathers, it may be used as a preperation for communion, as part of an act of spiritual communion or a starting point for meditation. Many will find this a valued companion.
