Product Description

The text provides comprehensive coverage of the new FRCR part 1 syllabus, which was introduced in December 2002. The authors, representing trainees and teachers from the radiology training scheme in Leeds, were amongst the first to experience the revised syllabus. They have put together a series of MCQ's in a clear and concise format, in a similar style to the examination. Special attention is given to the issues of legislation, and detailed explanations of the answers are provided, in particular to clarify the more difficult parts of the examination. This text is ideal for FRCR candidates and tutors, radiographers, radiologists and medical physics students. A mock examination is included.
topics covered:
fundamental properties of matter radiation and radioactive decay
production of x-rays
interactions of ionising radiation with matter
factors affecting image quality
conventional film processing
quality assurance and quality control
mammography
special radiographic techniques
image intensifiers and fluoroscopy
computed tomography scanning
radionuclide imaging
radiation protection
patient dosimetry
UK legislation - statutory requirements and non-statutory recommendations

Editorial Reviews

From the Author
We intended to provide accurate questions representative in style and content of the new exam, including more difficult topics, and to help students learn essential facts and direct further reading in areas of weakness. Half of the new syllabus and questions in the first series of part 1 FRCR examinations were dedicated to new legislation (IRR 1999, IRMER 2000), a topic not covered in most standard textbooks or currently available MCQ books, but included and emphasised in our book.

We hope that the layout of the book will allow candidates to use the questions for revision and test examination technique. A separate mock examination is provided at the end of the book for this purpose. We have specifically tried to provide clear detailed explanations in answer to our questions and hope that they clarify difficult parts of the syllabus.

Best of the 35
By far the best out of the 3 available Part 1 books and out of the 3 its questions are most like those found in the exam.

If you are scoring well with the questions in this book then you should do well in the exam.
