An excellent counsellor's introduction to Object Relations.4
By summarising, in the first part of the book, the lives, work and theories of Freud, Klein, Winnicott, Fairburn, Bowlby & others, Gomez provides a sound basic introduction to the psychodynamic basics of Object Relations.

Later, she discusses how object relations has developed since it's inception, she gives brief case histories and descriptions of role playing and describes how Object Relations is active in these instances.

This book has been an excellent reference for me during my psychotherapy training in the psychodynamic model.

An excellent introduction for experts and non-experts4
Highly readable critical account of the development of this seminal approach with illuminating examples and illustrations. Looks at the main theorists in the context of their life and times. Has had excellent reviews in the UK psychology press across a broad spectrum of approaches. Useful for all working in the caring professions.

Illuminating!5
Wow. This was my first foray into the world of Object Relations. I learned so much. The text is kind, informative, explanatory, clear, simple, complex; a complete experience. I can pay the book no higher compliment than to say that I will immediately read it again, and probably again after that. The text draws you in, develops your understanding, shapes your knowledge. Excellant, thanks!
