Product Description

An overview of key issues and challenges arising from the implementation of more inclusive policies and provision in education in the UK and internationally. Mittler sets policies for inclusive schools in the broader contexts of current policies which aim to reduce poverty and social exclusion, and the wider global background of the United Nations drive to promote "education for all". Drawing a distinction between integration and inclusion, he provides a critical analysis of the government's Programme of Action and the revised National Curriculum and their implications for schools, pupils and families.

Customer Reviews

'Inclusion is a journey without an end'5
Peter Mittler's book contributes greatly to the debate on Inclusive Education. Mittler writes with compassion coupled with an outstanding knowledge on the subject. He challenges the way we educate our young people and offers a vision of how the future could be for all students, not just those with 'special needs' or in the authors own words 'exceptional needs'.This book should be read by anyone interested in Education and in particular Social Inclusion. An inspiring book that promotes a positive way foward to a more Inclusive Society.
