Customer Reviews
Excellent introduction to the battle
One of a pair of studies of the battle (the other is "Gettysburg 1 July 1863: Confederate: the Army of Northern Virginia"), Arnold and Wiener offer excellent studies of the Union order of battle. More a biography of units than a blow by blow analysis of the battle itself, the two volumes offer a stimulating insight into the organisation of the Army of the Potomac. A large, fold-out map at the back helps establish the geography of the battlefield. Excellent little study for anyone new to the battle or looking to wargame the fight.
