Excellent historical account of the SL and SLC
This book contains an historical account of the Mercedes Benz SL and SLC models since their inception through to the W107 model of the 1970s and 80s. LJK Setright's style is unique and factual, with plenty of little snitbits of information that could only have been gleened from thorough research of the subject. There are plenty of pictures, although some are a little grainy. Setright has a balanced view of the SL and often grapples with, and refutes, the contention that an SL is not really "a proper sports car". Anybody familiar with his columns in the old "CAR" magazine will recognise the style in this book. Recommended.
