A passionating hour - to - hour account of this battle
Proffusely mapped, and thoroughly write, this book is a "must " to anybody that is interested in the Nepoleonic Wars and in Military history in general. A vivid and passionate account that shows you how defait becomes victory in a matter of half an hour...The austrians fought with their costumated bravery and stubborness, but, finally, Dessaix and Kellerman's dash save the day for Napoleon. (for him really a "Very near run thing"). Another splendid book from Osprey.

A Wargamers' Dream of a Book
Covering not only the Battle of Marengo but Montebello as well, the excellent maps are presented table-top style and detailed orders of battle include the number of soldiers per regiment (and the number of battalions per foot regiment) for both sides on each day of battle. The text is both lucid and stirring. I wouldn't sell my copy - I refer back to it regularly and always with renewed enjoyment.
