A knitted gift for a new baby is a time-honoured tradition. Grandparents, in particular, are always keen to offer to knit for the new addition to the family. Erika Knight, in this marvellous new take on a traditional craft, shows how to create baby knits that are both delightfully soft and luxurious, but also simple and modern in style. Her designs, in pure yarns such as merino wool, silk and cashmere, are not only marvellously soft and gentle for a new baby's delicate skin they are absolutely modern in feel, while retaining as their core inspiration the best of baby's classic knits - bootees, bonnets, cot blankets and cardigans - but with a modern edge. The stitches she uses are quick and simple to knit, but highly textural in feel. Even a complete novice can master most of the patterns in the book, and the simplest will take only an evening or at most a weekend to knit. In a carefully chosen colour range of art-shade pastels and neutrals that have a long-lasting appeal, these knits are the heirlooms of the future. Any parent will want to knit them, own them and keep them for future siblings or as mementoes for the future.

Customer Reviews
An absolutely adorable collection of knits.
An excellent collection- especially as all the patterns are suitable for newborns, unlike most knitting books on the market. Brilliant to knit for yourself, or as gifts.
Excellent book - for everyone
I just love this book. I am an experienced knitter but somehow I seem to be ending up knitting from this book ever since I bought it. The designs are simple but so wonderfully basic, tasteful and elegant.
The instructions are very easy to follow - even if you're a beginner. There are few abbreviations and there are always instructions for everything (you never have to guess what to do or how to do it).
I have knitted most of the designs in this book and have not found any errors yet.
This book inspired me to learn to knit
Amazing book! It is so beautiful that I bought this book before I even knew how to knit. Similar to Debbie Bliss, but with added elegance...a bit more graceful. These patterns aren't so much for everyday wear, more for gifts and special occasions. Think Monsoon. The patterns use Rowan and Jaeger yarns and are beautifully simple. There's no Fair Isle or intarsia, no motifs, no stripes. Some of the jumpers require very little sewing and are knit in one piece. There's even a pattern for a jumper with matching leggings. Most of the patterns can be knit for a boy or a girl. Gorgeously laid out, photographs to make you sigh, lots of helpful information, but if you've never picked up a pair of knitting needles, you won't be able to rely on this one to teach you to knit. While it has a technique glossary, there is no 'how to' section for the basics. It includes 18 patterns, but be warned: while the sizes begin at 0-3 months, the largest size is 6-9 months, but could be resized for those who are good in maths or design. This book is a bit of luxury...it's knitting-book heaven just to look through it (you knitters know what I'm talking about)
