About the Author
Matthew Biggs trained at the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew and appeared in Channel 4's Garden Club. He writes for Gardeners' World magazine and lectures around the world. Matthew travels extensively and likes to experiment with unusual varieties and try out new growing techniques. He is the co-author of GQT Plant Chooser and GQT Techniques and Tips for Gardeners.

I joined one of those "box schemes" to eat organic (and so I don't over spend on junk at the supermarket). Unfortunatley this resulted in a lot of veg going off because I didn't actually know what to do with it! I'd never has asparagus, celeric or any of these "greens" before. I even wondered if they were safe to eat raw or be toxic (as kidney beans are raw).

This is where the book came to the rescue. It not only tells you how to prepare it in the kitchen but it tells you everything you might want to know such as how to grow it, garden pests and deseases, medicinal uses, warnings and different varieties.

Therefore, the next time I get a "Cassava root" in my organic box, I'll know to prepare it properly otherwise I'll get latext poisoning. When I grow Garlic I'll know that onion fly and Downy mildew attack it but it will help lower my blood pressure will be lowered by eating it!

Fantastic.

Buying this book will allow to use so many more vegetables that we never touch. No more peas, carrots and potatoes for every meal! Hurrah.
