Product Description

The fate of Anastasia and that of the Russian Imperial family is still shrouded in mystery, even after the announcement in 1993 of the discovery of their remains in a pit near Ekaterinburg, Eastern Russia. The many reports out of Russia concur that two of the royal children were missing from the grave, but they do not agree on their identity. John Klier untangles the strands of the Romanov mysteries, separating unpalatable truths from tactical, political lies. Fluent in Russian and an expert in Russian history, he has travelled to Russia, the USA and Western Europe in search of the lost Romanovs. He has examined secret archives in Russia, he has had exclusive access to the late James Blair Lovell's private archive of Romanov materials from Washington DC, and he has taken first-hand testimony from scientists and historians in Russia.

Customer Reviews

Excellent take on an old mystery.5
In his book, John Klier and his wife Helen Mingay delve deep into the mystery surrounding the death of Anstasia, daughter of the last Tsar of Russia. Was Anna Anderson really her as she claimed to be, or was she a fake? In this spectacular book, John Klier uses never before seen sources. An extremely interesting and well-researched book.

Captivating book about the shocking fall of the Romanovs5
This book explains the process of the fall of the Romanov Imperial family and the 20th century search for answers to the question "Are they really all dead". It is a very interesting book. It instigated in me a new interest into the changes in the Russian culture in the last 100 years.

The quest for Anastasia 2
This book has nothing new to say, goes briefly into the background of the story, but gives little evidence, apart from the DNA evidence, which has been disputed, that the quest has been solved.
