Product Description

This is a translation of Dostoevsky's most widely read novel - at once a murder mystery, a mordant comedy of family intrigue, a pioneering work of psychological realism and an unblinking look into the abyss of human suffering.

One of the 2 best books ever written.5
This and War and Peace represent for me the two greatest books ever written. I'm not just giving it lip service because I think I ought to. It distills all those thoughts you had at the corner of your mind but couldnt properly articulate, so that when you read it you understand yourself, and the human condition, at least for a few lucid moments. No kidding, that's what happens! It's one of the most life affirming books ever, although it deals with some of life's most tormenting aspects. Reading it really does make you glad to be alive. Describing it in any great detail would make me sound pretentious, but all I'm saying is this is great art, and you should read it because it will enrich your life.

This is "The" book5
If I remember well, in Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse 5, there's a character that says that "The Brothers Karamazov" is the only book one has to read, because everything's in it.
This is the mos apropriate comment I've ever read on this book: From the live of the Starets Zossima, to the impressive tale of the Grand Inquisitor, and the incredible dialogue of Ivan and the devil, the book is filled with memorable scenes and reflections that will stick to your memory forever.
The characters are complex (as in any major Dostoyevsky book), deep, and deeply distressed, and every usual theme of Dostoyevsky's works is here, and it's at its best...
The great masterpiece of one of the best writers in the history of universal literature.

Hooray for Russian novels!5
Despite only being 18 i really enjoyed reading this book. Although it also has an engrossing plot line, I found the essential beauty of the novel were the many sub-plots and interweaving characters through which Dostoyevsky explores greater human themes, such as spirituality, love, and revenge.

Though many might find Dostoyevsky's meandering style tiresome i found the complex world of Brothers Karamazov hugely engaging and absorbing, and the characters fascinating and believable. The book's balance of beauty and realism was incredibly poignant, and the ending is wonderful and uplifting. Definitely the best book i've read.

Hooray for Russian Novels!
