Excellent for Trainee Teachers
This is a highly recommended book for trainee teachers, especially those who struggle with maths at the best of times.
It's full of lessons plans and ideas on how to put across certain topics. This is essential for a trainee teacher as you may not know where to look to find ideas for lessons. However the lesson plans are a little brief for what a student teacher is required to produce but they are good for starters.
The only problem with book is that it is a little dated now with the National Numeracy Strategy. References to this and cross-links with the National Curriculum would have made my life as a trainee teacher a lot easier.
But it's still an excellent book that no trainee teacher can do without. Its a very good platform to work from and improve your own lessons.
A good book if you haven't done any maths since school
I purchased this book before i started my PGCE to make sure i had a good grasp of the basic subject knowledge. It is easy to read and has some good examples although there are many Maths subject knowledge books which go into more detail and are a bit more modern in their design.
