Great facts, no feeling
Don't let the colour photos on the cover mislead you, the Hutchison Guide is a pretty dry reference volume, not a travel book.
There is a section for each country and shorter entries for individual places, rivers, mountains etc. The masses of facts seem precise and up-to-date on everything from average rainfall and GDP through to literacy rates and the life expectancy of the Antarctic krill (almost). Each country has its own small b/w location map and a one page historical chronology, addresses for consulates etc and details on visa requirements.
There are no photos and the notes for tourists are limited to one line eg. Thailand: temples, trekking, islands.
If you want to know what the country is "like" from a living-there / travelling point-of-view you'll need another book.
Interesting Reading
This book was a welcome addition to our "information bookcase". Very informative. Fast delivery and well packaged.
