From the Back Cover
This text deals with treatment of cleft lips and palate patients, cosmetic surgery of the face and jaws, treatment of jaw disease and cancer of the head and neck. In addition it covers the scientific aspects of diagnosis of a spectrum of orofacial conditions such as oral ulcers and parathyroid gland dysfunction. The management of patients with facial injuries is discussed and the important surgical operations performed by maxillofacial surgeons are described in detail. Functional disorders of the jaw joint and disorders of the thyroid and major salivary glands is covered. This book is unusual because it draws together information about medical management, perioperative management, describes surgical operations and covers the full range of pathology seen by and treated by maxillofacial surgeons. It is written with working clinical trainees in mind but covers the material in a manner suitable for presentation as examination answers for candidates facing FRCS, FDSRCS (or their new equivalents) and medical and dental finals.
Customer Reviews
This is a good revision aid
This is a quite an expensive paper back revision aid. It covers many of the core subjects in maxillofacial surgery, eg. osteotomies, mid-face fractures etc. The chapters are set out alphabetically and each chapter is in a list format which is great for revision. On the down side it is a bit pricey and because of the alphabetical format the subjects leap about from one chapter to the next which makes it hard to read. It should really have more line drawings particularly in the chapters on head and neck anatomy.
I would probably rather borrow it than buy it but definately use it for dental finals and post graduate exams in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
