Great for artists of all levels!
This book is both helpful and inspiring and there's plenty of interesting stuff to read. It takes you through equipments and basics (especially good if you're just starting out) It describes lots of different techniques with plenty of examples showing you actual artwork through the stages so you can understand how to build up a scene when you're out in the field yourself.
I found that the book gives a lot of examples of watercolour and this was perfect for me as it's my preferred medium but it might be a let down for others. There ARE other materials used like charcoal, acrylics, coloured pencil, ink wash etc and some mixed media examples aswell but there are a lot of more examples with watercolour in comparisson.
One thing I really liked about the book is that it covers old buildings AND new ones and the different ways you can approach them in your drawings & paintings. The examples given are really inspiring because they look achievable and the narrative is informative throughout whilst still being friendly and accessible.
A quick note: this is NOT a book on architecture - if you are interested in drawing & painting buildings from a more architectural perspective, I highly recommend 'The Architectural Drawing Course' which is invaluable!
In conclusion, this is a really useful book - I purchased it when I was just starting out with watercolour buildings and after several months, I am still referring back to it for ideas and inspiration - highly recommended!
