Synopsis
The "ShipCraft" series provides in-depth information about building and modifying model kits of famous warship types. Lavishly illustrated, each book takes the modeller through a brief history of the subject class, using scale plans to highlight differences between sisterships and changes in their appearance over their careers, and then moves to an extensive photographic survey of either a high-quality model or a surviving example of the ship. Hints on building the model, and on modifying and improving the basic kit, are followed by a section on paint schemes and camouflage, featuring numerous colour profiles and highly-detailed line drawings. The strengths and weaknesses of available kits of the ships are reviewed, and the book concludes with a section on research references - books, plans and relevant websites. This volume covers the heavily armed coastal craft known to the British as E-Boats. Fast, seaworthy and outgunning Allied MTBs and PT-boats, they were probably the most effective inshore attack craft of the war. Large scale (1/72) kits exist of both early and later versions, and they are popular modelling subjects throughout the world.

A pleasant experience
Having no knowledge of the author, I was very pleased with the contents of this book. The range of photos were very helpful, as I am building models of two types of these boats. For the modest price I would say that this book woud be extremely useful to anybody interested in the subject.

Great buy
As with all Histoire & Collections books, this is packed with great photos and colour plates. Also there is plenty of information regarding flotilla formations and tactics along with descriptions of S-boat actions. Another great book from this publisher.
