Review
This is a lavishly illustrated journey through a rich, infinite variety of world home interiors taking in the textures, colours and styles from places as far apart as Ecuador to Sussex, and Manhattan to Shanghai. The theme is escapism: we travel to escape, we use our homes to escape from the frustrations and stresses of modern living. Waller is managing director of the interior design company Andrew Martin, which specializes in creating and supplying travel-inspired fabrics and designs. Waller and co-author Bradbury look at what can be achieved through using ideas sourced from cultures around the world. Fusions Interiors is divided into regions, starting with the Orient and finishing with 'Heritage', which is England. Blackmore's photography, much of it stunning, all of it inspirational, dominates the book and is interspersed with photographs in monochrome and sepia, from earlier times and parts of Andrew Martin interiors. Although this book may serve as an advertisement for Waller's design company, Andrew Martin, one can gain much in the way of guidance from it. The book is almost as much about world travel as it is about design and reflects Waller's passion for both. As the title suggests, it fuses the two, bringing the earthy magic of Africa, the complexity and vibrant colours of the Incas and the sensuality of India to the living rooms and bedrooms of the western world. It also draws upon modern Manhattan, the cool, simpler images of New England and the sense of warmth and nostalgia evoked by the English country house. This is a book of ideas - there are no ready-made interiors as such. It is up to you to effect the transition from outside to inside. (Kirkus UK)

From the sleeve....
Travel is the great luxury of our time. Discovering and experiencing different cultures has made a huge impact, not only on the way we look at the world, but also the way we live. Just as we bring back memories from our travels, so we now bring back inspiration, influences and ideas for our Living spaces. It is this philosophy and source of inspiration that is at the heart of the Andrew Martin company, which designs and supplies a range of travel-inspired fabrics and designs, and is explored by Martin Wailer and Dominic Bradbury in FUSION INTERIORS.
Moving through the regions of the world, this book identifies the patterns, textures, experiences and objects that surround us. The rich opulence of the Orient; the Inca inspired fabrics and the patterns and spice colours of India; the landscapes and wildlife of Africa in Safari; the Deco elegance of Manhattan; the laid-back muted colour of Coast; the classic British tradition in Heritage,. all deeply inspiring and highly evocative of exciting lifestyles. As interior design continually evolves, adopting styles and influences from. around the world, this book provides a singular source book for global design.
At the heart of FUSION INTERIORS, craft and culture combine in elegant, contemporary settings. Brilliant new photography counterbalances archive images that remind the observer of moments from an itinerary whereby colour and pattern have been visually collected. The authors interweave these motifs with an intensely evocative journal recalling travel, history and the revitalizing experience of new horizons. As a travel book for the home, FUSION INTERIORS will be treasured and sought as a work of reference for all travellers and homemakers.
