What the West Must (Re)Learn
I have read this book twice; in spanish and now in english. "Unfortunately" I read in it first in spanish 4 years ago and was unable to fully grasp the depth of so much colour and humour that Archie Lame Deer transmits throughout the entire book (my spanish is good.. but not that good!)

We in the west have forgotten.. thousands of years ago maybe, how we can live in touch with the planet. We are of the planet and the planet is not of us. The Lakotas know this through their innate life's energy and their purity of culture. That we as euro/americans erroneously started to try to beat it out of them 150 years ago continuing until very recently is something we must accept, live with and now retouch through their beliefs the source of who we are.

Archie Fire Lame Deer gives you an insight, without arrogance, excuses nor blaming, to the power of life that the lakota possess as well as their weaknesses in modern times.

How much we must learn. Archie Lame Deer and his father John who teachings were passed on to Archie, give us this base in a book that all who care about who we are and where we are should read.

It would have been a privilege to meet him.

One Of the Greatest books I ahve ever read.
Lame deer pulls no punches and tellyou how it was and how it is. I wish I could have met him in person. He teachings are carried on through others that he has taught.
