Customer Reviews
great for beginner
Great book to try and build a reasonable repertoire
and a good read.
It is a verbose book (some may not like this but I did), in contrast to the terse commentary and computer analysis of other opening reportoire books.
The big plus with this book is the number of diagrams, which means you can
examine the various lines without a board and having to visualise 10-15 moves.
It contains main line diagrams every few moves with diagrams for sidelines and analysis discussions .. hence the number of pages. Diagrams/memory tests/summaries etc are all clearly higlighted in colour.
It offers tests and summaries to keep the key themes in your memory.
The opening reportoire is exciting and thorough, with the odd novelty and should equip you to reply to anything White throws at you.
With the white explained e4 companion book this looks to be a good start to anyone who wants to get their game to a decent middlegame.
