Product Description

Squeezes are an aspect of bridge declarer play that many intermediate players think they will never grasp. Yet while squeezes can be extremely complex, the basic principles of squeeze play are not. This is the first comprehensive book on squeeze play since Clyde E Love's classic 'Bridge Squeezes Complete', and much more approachable. Using the same straightforward, conversational style with recaps and quizzes that characterised the 'Bridge Technique' series, this book will make squeezes understandable to many readers who have been afraid to attempt to learn them.

A vital book in the bridge technical library4
The book is well organised. There are 20 chapters of different squeeze types. The format of each chapter is the same. There is a sample hand with play, a description of the squeeze itself, with all the important factors in the squeeze beautifully identified. Other examples and variations follow. Next is a real live example, as opposed to the made up ones for the education. There is a commentary on the play and what the defence could have done to avoid the pressure. Next comes a quiz section. Followed by the answers. At the end is a squeeze index.
As a squeeze beginner I found the instruction very informative and the examples extremely clear. I found the quiz questions varied from "very easy" to "I give up". The easy ones are all obvious; following on from the squeeze type in the relevant chapter.
I now believe I have the confidence to start trying to look for squeezes all the time. The downside is that having the skill to apply all the techniques properly, is something that even the magician David Bird can't pass on just like that!
If you want to improve your technical skills and if squeezes are in the area you want to improve, I can not recommend this book more.
