Editorial Reviews
From the Back Cover
If no one has yet told you that vegan food is varied, healthy and scrumptious, this is just the book for you. The author's choice of genuinely cruelty-free ingredients varies from the more exotic to the re-assuringly homely, but they all stimulate the taste buds and they're all available on the high street.
Vegan food is much in demand as more people are advised to avoid dairy products for health reasons. It is also a logical next choice after becoming vegetarian, since meat is not the only animal product dependent on cruelty and abuse. So these recipes avoid the use of milk, butter, cream, honey and eggs, as well as meat and its by-products.
All the recipes are tried and tested. Although they are organised into monthly menus, you can of course pick and choose to make up menus and dishes for any occasion.
'It's important to reclaim our food from those who pretend that pain and suffering are an essential part of our diet. Enjoy these great recipes because they strike a blow for the oppressed of the world - humans and animals alike.' Juliet Gellatley, Founder and director of Viva!
'Imaginative ... very good value.' The Vegan
'Linda's tasty book runs through the twelve months of the year with a mouth-watering and well-balanced three course meal for each one.' Wildlife Guardian
'This inspiring book proves just how sophisticated and tasty vegan food can be.' Agscene
'Superb idea - a book long overdue.' Green World
Customer Reviews
A fantastic book with dishes to impress!
This book is a great addition to the shelves of any vegan cook.
It has a menu and recipes for a different dinner party listed for each month of the year, although of course you can cook them anytime.
Each dinner party menu suggested contains a starter, main course, vegetable dishes, sauces and relishes, and dessert.
There is a very useful index of dishes at the back so you can mix and match!
This is one of my favourite cookbooks.
Eh
This book is pretty basic. No pictures. Recipes ranged from so simple they didn't really require directions to rather complicated for something that didn't even sound particularly interesting. The dessert options in particular, were a disappointment. I definitely haven't been inspired to try any of the recipes. Not a bad book, but not worth the space it's taking up on my shelf either.
