Product Description
This volume brings together a collection of Graham Holderness's writings on such topics as Shakespeare and national culture; the Shakespeare industry; and the "Shakespeare Myth". Published in books and journals between 1985 and 1997, these celebrated essays constitute a resource for the study of Shakespeare as a cultural phenomenon or ideological apparatus, as distinct from Shakespeare the poet and playwright.

Editorial Reviews
Dr. Terence Hawkes, University of Wales, Cardiff
"Graham Holderness's refusal to separate the Bard from the culture in which we all take part makes him an admirably perceptive, and sadly rare, critic."
