Slightly over my head
I am a high school student of politics and this book seemed to be exactly what i was looking for in terms of a background to various ideologies.
The introduction underlined the point that political policy cannot be divorced from a philosphy. To an extent i think the author (whether intentionally or not) discredited the Conservative party who all to often seem to react to circumstance instead of manifesting policy from a preconcieved doctrine. It also brought to mind the problems, in my opinion, of Tony Blairs 'third way'.
Although i enjoyed and understood the introduction, i found the rest of the book quite heavy going. This is not a criticism of the author, i think the essay was probably pitched at lot higher political understanding than my very basic one.
In summary, if you're an a-level student (except maybe if your OxBridge bound) this text is probably not for you.
