Synopsis
When Joshua Goddard was born his parents were faced with a bleeding and ulcerated baby. It was pronounced that Joshua had a malignant melanoma. Joshua proved to be resilient and lived three years longer than expected. This is the honest and open account of how, as new parents Tim and Coral Goddard confronted the realities of suffering and death through the short life of their precious son Joshua.

From the Author
We are an ordinary couple from London and these are our adventures with our first-born son. Before you read this there are two things we would like to tell you in acvance.

Firstly, there are sad bits. So you may find our story moving and our frank style hard to read at times. But we chose such a style deliberately to convey the full reality of our experiences - good and bad - and to provide an alternative to biographies that skim over the less palatable aspects of life. Difficult things do happen and most people are unsure how they would respond if they - or someone they were close to - had a sick or terminally ill child. Yet many still want to know 'what it is like' and to be better informed. We likened our experience to a roller coaster ride, with plenty of high and lows, intensity and relaxation, happy and painful moments.

Secondly there are 'religious bits'. We are dedicated Christians and all we would ask of you is an open mind. Numerous people have asked us if what we went through caused us to doubt God. On the contrary, we found that our relationship with him took on new dimensions that it was the greatest possible source of strength and encouragement for us.

It is our hope that this honest account of it all will give useful insight to those who want to know more and in some small way to give genuine reassurance and hope to any reader facing something similar.

So let the roller coaster ride begin...

A birth into eternity5
This book is of personal interest as a have met the lovely little boy called Joshua and he was one very sweet little boy who lived his short life to the full. Just yesterday I saw his perfectly healthy brother and sister. The book is wonderfully written and while it is sad it is also leading the reader closer to God. This is a wonderful read for anyone.
