The 3rd edition of Successful ICT Projects in Excel is designed to help students on an Advanced Level Technology course to complete a project using Microsoft Excel 2002 (also suitable for 2000 and '97 versions). It will also be useful to students on a wide range of other courses requiring an in-depth knowledge of spreadsheets. It assumes no previous knowledge of Excel and takes the reader from basics such as entering, editing and formatting text, numbers and formulae through to advanced features such as 'What if' scenarios, pivot tables, macros and customised toolbars. A wide range of examples is used to illustrate the different facilities of Excel, and a sample project shows students how to tackle and document each stage of project work.
Topics covered: Workbooks and worksheets; Editing and formatting; Writing formulae; Using functions; 'What if' scenarios; Linking; Workbooks; Filtering; Subtotalling lists; Sorting and creating charts; Printing Online forms and templates; Basic macros; Advanced macros; Project ideas; The systems life cycle; Writing the project report.

Customer Reviews
A basic introduction but not in enough depth for A/AS level
A disappointing book. AS Level students require more information on how to use the higher level features of Microsoft Excel. Not enough to stretch pupils to the highest grades.
Disappointing
I bought this book expecting it to show students how to put together a successful AS Level project. Unfortunately it does nothing of the kind, neither covering the advanced features nor explaining how to document the project.
OK if you're happy with a grade D.
AS Level Student Review of Details Applied to AS ICT C. Work
I recently purchased this book after seeing it on the amazon web site. Hearing that the book was endorsed by an Examiner, and written by one I felt sure that it would assist me to get a high grade in my ICT AS Level Coursework.
Although the book contains a full section in which it states everything you need to include in your project to gain a good mark, it lacks severe detail of an only 30 or so pages area. In fact my project took some 60 pages with an additional 50 pages of project printings and visual basic code. Even so my ICT teacher told me that these were essential to gain a good mark in the courswork. Therefore these were included, WHICH IS NOT MENTIONED IN THE BOOK! Why is this? should the book not give you all the necessary areas to work on after all it is called SUCCESSFUL PROJECTS IN ICT? unsuccessful more likely.
I am very disapointed in the quality of this book as well. The graphics used are poor and the layout is also difficult to grasp with an incredibly poor index which our teacher commented on.
If you want to get anything above a B don't buy this book as you are likely to only get a C or a D with the limited content and points made in the sample project.
