This is childhood escapism at its best
I was given this as a young child and it quickly became a well worn favourite. Alison Uttley writes delightful short stories, about many subjects - country children, animals, birds. It is ideal for bedtime reading as the stories are short but will capture the imagination of children from around four or five upwards. It is slightly old fashioned in style and subject - but thats no bad thing. I am buying it again for my little girl and am looking forward to reading it to her....For the young and the young at heart.
