Customer Reviews

Well written, and thorough5
In a sea of rubbish and fluff it is a breath of fresh air to see a work, excellent in it's simplicity and depth.
In simple terms for a teacher in this field, long has there been a need for students whom ask for concise in depth material to explain many matters. This work achieves this admirabley and does so within the constraints of tradition. Damned good show. Keep up the good work.

An indispensable tool for constructing ritual5
So you want to write your own Wiccan ritual.

You need a book to guide you on basic essence, framework, symbolism and refinement but without being led along by specific content or intent.

This book is what you are looking for.

Many similar books on the market today can contain too much information leading the individual (or group) down a messy road of complications, recipes and personal rhetoric.

This book cuts through all that and goes back to the absolute essence of Wicca: Make the ritual as individual as you are while working in a consistent framework that will allow you to grow and develop.

Beginners will benefit from the step by step stages helping them to gain confidence and progress their ritual at a pace suitable for them.

The more experienced will find it a great working tool and a focus to bring them right back to the basic essence of Wicca.

Buy this book.

If your copy is not dogged eared from use and covered in working notes by the end of six months I'll eat my hat!

What we have all been waiting for5
This book is the book you need to read if you are really interested in Wicca. That is Wicca the way it is today, drawing from the traditions of Alexandrian and Gardnerian roots, but allowing for modern interpretation and changes in a way that still takes into account the meaning and symbolism of the rituals and rites.

D'Este & Rankine are foremost amongst the teachers of the tradition in the UK today. Their workshops, talks and lectures span a wide range of topics and expertise. They are never stale and are truly both students and teachers of the Western Mystery Tradition. They are not shy to encourage students to follow paths that suit the student, rather than the path they themselves follow.

Sorita is a great ceremonialist and the public ceremonies she leads reflects a deep understanding and a wonderful blend of experience and creativity in the way she approaches each individual component, weaving a bright and magickal blend that even with hundreds of participants allows for individual and group experience. They are not formaliac, but instead draws on a real understanding of the mysteries, which is rare for public ceremonies today.

This book is not a guide for idiots. It assumes some knowledge of Wicca and magick. It assumes that the reader wants to learn about Wicca. It is not set out to convince the reader that Wicca is the tradition for them. Instead it gives clear and ungarbled information, symbolism and practical advice.

This is a book, as has been stated already by one of the other reviewers, that will be used. It is intended to be used and if you are serious about wanting to learn about Wicca I would highly recommend it. Yes you can read the books giving more detailed account of history. Yes you can read the books that give you personal accounts and personal opininions. But if you are serious about wanting to learn and wanting to improve your knowledge, then this book should be #1 on your readinglist.

Even if you are experienced, initiated into one of the established traditions and feel that you don't need another book on Wicca. This book will certainly give you some food for thought and will improve your knowledge. I have no doubts about it.

If you are completely new, then this book will give you a proper grounding that you will not get from any other book. There is no fluff in this volume - just information, advice and practical encouragement.
