Customer Reviews

An opportunity for great exposure4
I bought this book as Amazon had recommended it to me and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie was one of the featured authors. It's `a global anthology of short stories' by various well known and other authors.

My favourite story by far was `My Mother, the Crazy African' by Chimamanda Adichie - it made me roar with laughter! I really understood where the narrator was coming from. I loved `Growing My Hair Again' by Chika Unigwe; I thought it was very powerful and as a result I bought Unigwe's novel `On Black Sisters' Street'. `The Third and Final Continent' by Jhumpa Lahiri finished the anthology well; it was tasteful. I gave this book to my mother to read and she enjoyed it very much

I enjoyed the stories overall; this anthology is great exposure for authors around the world; authors I that would not have heard of. I look forward to their future works.

Insightful3
A great collection of stories. Some better than others inevitably. I really enjoyed Jhumpa Lahiri's and Ngozi's pieces. Its a rich collection where language and cultural diversity is clearly displayed, maybe not in full force, but in a sensitive manner.
I would recommend it.
One thing - I do wish the front cover was nicer. Just a suggestion, a better image (a photograph maybe) would really sell this book more.
