Customer Reviews
Well worth reading even as an experienced CWPA user.
Ok, I admit I didn't like this book at first. It seemed too simplistic. Luckily for me, I did read on, and soon realised the book's value.
Buy it. I doubt that you'll regret it. But read ALL of it!
Not great. A rehash of the manual
This covers a little more than the manual, but really never gets more in depth than simply telling you what button and switch does in turn. If thats what you need, then great, but there is very little here that isn't covered on the online help. The bits you could really use help with, trying to get your midi controllers working the way you want, using other PC programs like Rebirth with Cakewalk, are either ignored or just sketched over, leaving you frustrated at the lack of detail.
Nice tips
Ok so this book is to an extent a rehash of the manual. But it does have a number of advantages - first its got a good number of useful tips liberally sprinkled throughout the book. Second its written on paper! Hence its easy to read in a chair, in the loo, on the train etc etc, whereas carting my PC around to these places would be a bit extreme. And its cheaper to buy it than to print out the manual on your own printer.
One whinge - this book (as is common with a lot of american sourced books that I've read over the last 30 years) seems to have a binding glue made of some sort of camel spit or something. Anyway its a 'read once' substance. After reading once, the glue of the binding disintegrates and the spine of the book breaks. And I dont bend the book double whilst reading it....
Conclusion - good useful book, but watch for the camel spit.
