Product Description

In this cross between Chicken Soup for the Soul and the best of Erma Bombeck, the author, the mother of a young boy with Asperger Syndrome, gives us a rare glimpse of the ups and downs of family life with an individual who has autism spectrum disorder. From swim meets to Chinese restaurants, from school to church, to birthday parties, and everything in between, the reader is let into the everyday lives of the Elliott family. At once tender and hilarious, the episodes in the book all illustrate the basic tenet of this charming book - while living with a child with autism spectrum disorder often leads to embarrassing moments, nobody ever needs to be ashamed.

THe title of this book really drew my attention as /I wanted to find a positive outlook on children on the autistic spectrum. wow, this book certainly helps to maintain and uplift the positives of ASD families.
Whilst I sat reading it, which I did cover to cover in an afternoon, I noticed that I was nodding in agreement with many of the emotions and stories relayed within the test, sometimes with laughter, and others with tears.
I think that all "neurotypical" families should read this book to gain an insight into alternaitve family life, to try and reduce the judgemental way in which may people can behave.
I would recommend this book for absolutely everyone. It's one of my best buys in recent times.
