Our teacher says that this is the best of all observational techniques books. Quite a depressing thought considering that this must be the worst book in physics/astronomy I have been forced to read. The translation feels clumsy, the way of explaining things totally passes by anyone who doesn't have enough knowledge of the subject to write a book on his own and no clear line is followed. The exercises refer to things several chapters ahead in the book and the few offered answers only confuse more instead of helping. I am sure the authors of the book are competent astronomers, but they clearly should keep their hands from writing books. And imagine, this is the second, revised edition!
