Synopsis
In Friedler's fourth book, he assembles a collection of portraits of naked women all photographed lying or seated on the same mattress. In these rich photographs nothing is coyly hidden, the body being exposed and explored both by Friedler's camera and the viewer. Confident and direct, these women seem at peace with their nakedness, inviting the viewer into an erotic visual dialogue while demanding his or her awareness of the voyeurism involved.

Mattress
During a foray through the heading ‘erotic photography’ I came across this title. I was not familiar with the artist. However, the theme was unusual and intriguing, the synopsis mentioned that the viewer would enter into an erotic visual dialogue with the models. this looks like fun I thaught.

Flick open the pagers and you find two pictures of most models, one more revealing than the other but what the photographer reveals is not usually sexual. In this Freadler has captures something personal, individual and intriguing about each of the models.

However, Freadler has managed to capture each of the models looking straight back at you wearing a completely blank, totally asexual manikin like expression. The viewer does not enter into an erotic visual dialogue as suggested. Rather the viewer is confused as to why this book is under the heading of erotic.

Obviously I have missed the erotic point. Perhaps if you are interested in searching for an erotic point you may find this an appealing project.
