About the Author
Masti was born into a priestly Brahmin family He was a brilliant student who topped the Mysore Civil Service Examination and was appointed an assistant commissioner.After he retired in 1944 he started the monthly magazine Jeevana He took the important responsibility of the presidentship of PEN and the editorship of three volumes on Rabindranath Tagore The Karnataka University conferred an honoury DLitt on him in 1956 and the University of Mysore bestowed on him similar honour in 1977,His simple direct narration,homely speech and sympathetic understanding of human make these stories the classic they are
