An excellent book on dark-ages Europe5
This book covers the various barbarian invaders of Europe, beginning with the Huns and Germans in the Fourth century and continuing through to the Mongols. The book is written in an easy to read manner, and the excellent pictures in this book are crowned by 16 full-page pictures by the incomparable Angus McBride.

This book consists of 20 nice big colour pictures with explanatory paragraphs on the facing page, plus a few line drawings of weapons. In my opinion a couple of the pictures, 9 and 18 (the front cover shown above is a detail of 18), are a bit more cartoonish than his excellent Osprey illustrations. However, the others are good and quite atmospheric.
