Brilliant Debut
If you choose to partially ignore the neo-neorealist depiction of the people who inhabit the slums of Rome in this film and concentrate on the character of Accattone [Citti] you may just I consider this to be Pasolini's most amusing work. The lazy, self mythologising ...Accattone is quite funny most of the time. He is one of life's characters who just can't avoid the end fate has in store for him. If you know little of Italians and their behaviour then get this film. You will be pleasantly - and unpleasantly - educated.

This video version of the film is not as "wide screen" as MAMA ROMA.
