Customer Reviews

A must-have, whether you remember them or not!4
My housemate bought the DVD version of Charley Says... last year, and it gave us the most laughs we'd had in ages. Even if you don't remember the majority of the films, they're all classics in their own rights. From whingeing ginger moggy Charley to talking caravans, you can't fail to find something on this tape that will take you back to "the good old days"...were we really so innocent and naive?!
The only disturbing films on the tape are the ones for rabies, and also the Protect and Survive info films. However,if you've ever wanted to know how to choose a fallout room in your house, what to do if you have "fallout dust" on your clothes, and how to correctly store and label a dead body in your house during a nuclear attack, it's all here.
If you do have a DVD player, I'd advise you buy this on that format as there are more films on it including such classics as Klunk Klik and SPLINK (these are avalaible on a separate VHS, Charley Live), and you can go straight to the film you want to see.
Oh and don't forget to check out the warning on the video box about how the films should be viewed from an "ironic, postmodern" viewpoint, due to their patronising nature. You know it makes sense!

Sinister yet trippy!4
This video is a great example of such filmic aid for drug users! Very dated yet somehow familiar public service films with an unintentionally dark current flowing through. Many are so very sinister today, but I imagine that at the time they were totally normal. It's really worth getting this for the nuclear attack advice, if only for historical value. From the early 1980's, they tell you how to dispose of a body during fallout etc. I also liked the "don't let children get stuck in old fridges" because of course they'll get trapped and die. Although they don't show it, you get a mental image of this fridge with a corpse in it! It relies on the power of suggestion which is very intense., be it intentional or not.

Bring back the memories and play safe!4
This is one subject to which you truly can say, "They don't make 'em like that anymore!"

This is a collection of animated public information films, mostly from the 1970's. It includes all the classics such as Tufty and Charley. Some are funny, some are a bit grisly, but all are entertaining in one way or another.

The films are arranged chronologically which means that you sometimes get similar films right next to each other, which can get a little tedious to watch. That aside, you will alternately laugh and gasp as your favourite characters have narrow escapes or get run over by milk floats. A must-buy for any child of the 70's!
