Mel Gibson set aside his art-house credentials to star as a crazy cop paired with a stable one (Danny Glover) in this full-blown 1987 Richard Donner action picture. The most violent film in the series (which includes three sequels), Lethal Weapon is also the edgiest and most interesting. After Gibson's character jumps off a building handcuffed to a man, and Gary Busey (as a cold, efficient enforcer) lets his hand get burned without flinching, there is a sense that anything can happen, and it usually does. Donner's strangely messy visual and audio style doesn't make a lot of aesthetic sense, but it stuck with all four movies. --Tom Keogh

Synopsis
In Richard Donner's thrilling blockbuster, two tough Los Angeles cops--suicidal Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson) and family man Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover)--are teamed as partners in a highly unusual case involving a massive international crime ring which has its roots in Vietnam--a place they're both all too familiar with. brilliant
lethal weapon is a 1987 cop buddy movie that blended in the over zealous blood kill that incorporated the 80s in the action movie genre,mel gibson and danny glover play riggs and murtaugh,two cops who come from different backgrounds,lead very different lives and treat their sense of living differently as gibson is more gung ho who has a death wish since his wife was killed due to him being a cop,glover is a family man,getting on in age who prides himself on playing it safe.
The two cops have to learn to work with eack other,like each other amd then respect each other all the while fighting evil and trying to uncover a murder plot,the film is witty and intense and violent and thats what we love.

lethal weapon is clearly the best out of the four. it is absolutely fantastic and very violent . gibson and glover are a great duo.

I just love Mel and Danny together in this film, there's comedy, sadness and real grit in this film. One to buy to watch again and again.
