Customer Reviews

Stargate Season one4
When Stargate first started I like a few others wondered if the series could maintain the music of the film. However we needn't have worried Joel Goldsmith and associated composers kept the bar pretty high in season one and beyond.

The CD starts off with the revised music from the film for the main title and then into The Enemy Within (Dennis McCarthy/Kevin KIner) which fires in some harsh cues for the Kwalski Goauld segments of the episode. Suites from Cold Lazarus by Richard Band, and Emancipation (Kevin Kiner) follow giving us the synthy chills of the former and the Goauld voices and bombast of the latter.

We then get treated to some superb work from Joel Goldsmith from the superb theme for the four races room in Torment of Tantalus, the Thor people theme in Thor's Hammer and the beautiful music for the Nox race in the Nox. This last track worth the price of the CD alone.

Goldsmith then ends the CD with four more efforts, Hathor encompassing her silky seductive theme, Tin Man, the almost clockwork synth for the SG1 copies, the series cliffhanger Within the Serpents Grasp and its bombast, and finally the superb end credits. This encompassing the 9 note theme Goldsmith created and has used for the series ever since.

Its a superb CD, more so if you are a fan of the series and one hopes GNP do some more, after all, it is nearly into its 10th Season now. And there's plenty more good music like this in the other seasons!

Wonderful5
After buying the soundtrack for only the first episode, this one encompasses the entire first season with some lovely highlights. A must buy for all Stargate fans.

Quality listening4
The tracks are quite typical of the quality I've come to expect from Stargate SG-1. However, this collection only contains music from the first season episodes, so you have to ask yourself why more haven't been released. If you've watched the first season recently you'll find that you remember where each piece was used in the forty-five minutes a typical episode runs for.
