Customer Reviews
Lazlow you rock!
This rather large album is all the music from the 'V rock' radio station on the hugely successful video game, Grand Theft Auto Vice City.To put it straight, its a greatest hits collection of eighties 'hair metal' rockbands such as [...] Motley Crue and the now even more famous Ozzy Osbourne.
This would be your kind of album if youare into that sort of older - fashioned rock, as this could be described as the ultimate collection for that era. It's also worth a look if your into rock music in general, or, you loved listening to V Rock as you cruised down the streets of Vice City!
The icing on the cake is Lazlow your presenter. In real life he's a radio commercial writer- very funny and witty and down to earth. In the game andon the album Lazlow is his same self, but wrongly put in the position of heavy metal radio presenter, making him even more funny.
Overall, a quality album, even if this isn't what you'd usually like!
A nice idea, with wonderful execution.
GTA Vice City really was the game of 2003. And if we're going to be honest, which we are, V Rock was quite blatantly the best radio station. This album takes the songs, lifts them from the game and neatly deposits them on this cd, along with some rather amusing interludes from Vice City's 'Lazlow'. There are some wonderful songs in here; the best of them including Twisted Sister's 'I Wanna Rock' and Dave Lee Roth's 'Yankee Rose'. For a decent compilation of some 80s rock you might well start here with other offerings including Judas Priest, Motley Crue and Ozzy Osbourne's great 'Bark at the Moon'. A guest appearance from Vice Cty's own band - Lovefist - is a welcome addition. This might be cheesy but it amuses and rocks very nicely in places too. A good buy for anyone remotely into rock really!
V-rock till ya drop!
Ok, this album, is good, but not totally serious. It has a tracklist of some very good (some a little cheesey for my tastes) 80's rock and metal.
Not serious I hear you ask? "Ok lets hit the phones...real hard with our heads" and "...or I'll shove that sissy soft rock so far down your throat you'll be crapping hair bands till christmas!" see what I mean? It's like a real radio station, though much funnier. And for those of you saying well DUH not everyone reading these reviews is going to know about the context this album is, so :p
Good list of tracks, favourites are "Bark at the moon" and "Cum on feel the noise". I'm not sure, both sound like they could possibly have Rhoads playing, but I've also heard things to the contrary...amazing guitarist, I'd have put a Rhoads track on the ozzy or quiet riot slot.
Also lacking from the 80's metal/rock thing are Metallica(godfathers of thrash), and Guns & Roses or AC/DC. Back in black, woulda gone down a treat. Then again I'm not sure when in the 80's this is set, and I'm not great with album release dates and when they were made etc....who cares?
But hey, for those of you who wanna pretend you have long hair and still wear spandex jumpsuits (If you can't wear a spandex jumpsuit what CAN ya do?) and run around your living room while nobody else is in playing airguitar, this is the ticket.
By the way in the actual game, bark at the moon is THE track to drive fast to.
Good album provided you'll appreciate the tongue in cheek DJ scripts (I know I did). Doesn't stand out much, and I wouldn't buy it, but only cos I have most of the tracks, and the game. So it'd be somewhat redundant for moi.
"Screaaaaaams break the silence..."
