Average customer review:Product Description
In 1941 the RAF was being pressed to fill new and ever more demanding roles in the war against Hitler. Although first-class modern fighters, Hurricanes and Spitfires, were in abundant supply, the Air Chiefs had a serious problem with the Bomber force. This uncomfortable gap was filled by a revolutionary fighter bomber, one of the most original and versatile designs of the entire war - the de Havilland Mosquito.

Fantastic dvd
This in my opinion is the best "the war files" dvd. The sound quality is great and they let you hear the mosquito which makes a nice change from some of the other dvd's. This dvd really gives a complete picture of the plane from design to manufacture to combat. If you like Mosquito's you'll love this dvd I do.
A must for Mosquito lover's
This DVD really does paint a excellent picture of what was my favorite aircraft from WWII. This DVD clearly shows that the Mosquito was jack-of-all-trades and master of all.
It is the archive footage that really makes the DVD, clearly showing what an amazing plane it was and how skilled and brave the pilots were who flew it. Watching a squadron of Mossie's flying at roof top height at approx. 400 mph is quite something.
Although the modern shots of the Mossie flying aren't brilliant, I know it was fast but serely the camera man could pan better than that!
The narration is good and the incredible statistics about the aircraft and its capabilities are fasinating.
It really is a good buy and a must for Mosquito lovers.
review of synopsis
Your synopsis of this item is hopelessly inadequate and indeed inaccurate, as you would see by consulting the reviews of any of the articles you sell concerning the Mosquito. The Mosquito was first designed as an unarmed bomber, and was such a good design that it was produced in more variants than any other aircraft in WWII. If I am not mistaken, it first saw operational service in unarmed photo-reconnaissance. Part of the synopsis of Edward Bishop's book would be far more adequate:
"Photographic-reconnaissance aircraft, day and night fighter, bomber, mine-layer, torpedo-bomber, pathfinder, tank-buster, submarine-smasher - the de Havilland Mosquito was the most successful and versatile military aircraft of World War II."
The Mosquito was perhaps the finest aircraft ever built. Despite resistance to the unheard-of drawing-board concept of a bomber fast enough to do without defensive armament, it went ahead as a semi-private project until it first flew, and then even the Americans wanted it - an honour bestowed on very few British aircraft. It remained the fastest aircraft in the world for a few years, faster even than the Spitfire. I have even heard say that the Luftwaffe could count it as two kills if they shot one down. It is such a shame that to my knowledge none still fly today - this is presumably largely due to the fact that they were made of wood.
I could go on forever about the Mosquito, but people like Edward Bishop are far more eloquent and better informed than I.
