The cookery book5
I must endorse the other review. What a glutton - ...tears stream from the eyes of the toughest butchers in smithfield if they see a dead baby lamb. a week old lambin London costs about £6 at the time of writing - not to mention the effort of getting it past the blubbing butcher.
Let's have a reprint, Penguin.

The title says it all!5
I have owned this book for 30+ years, and desperately need a replacement copy! It is my source of the ONLY Christmas cake and Christmas pudding recipes worth making, and THE book for those extra special meals.

Somewhere in it are my two favourite guidelines:
(1) never use butter if you can use double cream, and
(2) never beat a steak - if it is tough, beat the butcher
I have tried to adhere to these principles on all special occasions!

My bible5
My copy has disintegrated and is now a collection of brown tattered pages in a plastic bag. Worse, I've lost the page with the recipe for boiled cake!!! Disaster. My grandchildren will realise I can't actually bake but have relied on this foolproof cheat's cake for years. The page with the sloe gin recipe has also gone missing. However will we manage at picnics and race meetings now?
