Customer Reviews

A very moving document5
This is a superb production which any Holly fan will enjoy, with excellent production values and high quality overall in all respects. I can't compare it to the Paul McCartney-produced ex 'Arena' DVD because I haven't seen that since it was televised. It's on my wish list!

The aspect of this DVD which remains with me and which inspired the title of my review is that Holly remains a person who is much-missed, indeed mourned, to this day. For example, both Waylon Jennings and Carl Bunch, who were in Buddy's band during the last tour, are plainly moved when talking about their dear friend who died many years ago. It is obvious that his passing was not something they ever 'got over', but something they just about learned to live with.

If you are a fan of Buddy Holly, I guarantee that you will treasure this DVD.

THE MUSIC OF BUDDY HOLLY5
I was only 14 when Buddy Holly died in that tragic plane crash. I was mortified. His music was so new and vibrant not like anything that had gone before.Over the years since his death I have collected just about every recording he ever made and this DVD/CD collection sums up Buddy Holly and the Crickets and demonstrates what a fantastic talent he had. Thank you to all the people who helped put this together and thanks to Buddy for his legacy which will live on for ever. Tony Cross

great interviews with most everyone connected with Buddy 5
As Keith says,an essential follow up to the Macca produced/Arena documentary.
Nikki Sullivan had unfortunately passed away by the time these interviews were staged & Buddy's widow is the other notable exception for differing reasons one supposses.
Don Guess gets his Due as a slap bassist par excellence.
You get to see the two full Ed Sullivan appearances on the Extras.
Fireballs guitarist George Tomsco is engaging as is Peggy Sue herself along with Gary & Ramona Tollet.
I am sure the dvd's producers tried to get some footage or otherwise of Larry Welborn (session bassist on 'That'll Be The Day' & its B celebrated B side) just 'wop out your wad' folks!
More interviews on the Extras. Bonus audio cd with most of the biggies & a 'jukebox' feature with photos that fly about & dissolve into the next song..the songs are great no matter what! Simon F
