Manufacturer's Description
Sony began it´s involvement in the battery business at the Koriyama plant, Japan, in 1978. Since then, it has been closely involved with a continually-evolving high quality age. Sony Energytec wrote a new chapter of battery history in 1990 by developing the world´s first lithium ion battery. In 2003, Sony was the first manufacturer to develop a 100 % mercury free silver-oxide-batteries.

Batteries included!!
This inexpensive battery charger from Sony is currently being offered by Amazon for around a tenner and represents fantastic value for money. The charger unit is small and light, only 100g without batteries, and connects to the mains via a supplied cable rather than plugging directly into a socket as some models do - the illustration doesn't show this clearly.
It is suitable for worldwide use being 100V - 240V input; it has a safety timer and can detect non-rechargeable batteries if accidently put in. It takes about seven to eight hours to charge your batteries, and any quantity between 1 and 4 can be charged at any one time; amber light goes out when the batteries are fully charged. It comes supplied with 4 Sony NI-MH AA rechargeable batteries - mine were actually 1800mAh capacity. It can also charge AAA size batteries.
I'm not sure that the Sony BCG-34HLD would be suitable for charging the older NI-CD batteries; the instructions only refer to NI-MH and the troubleshooting section of the instruction manual says to only charge this type of battery.
This charger is great for everyday use and would be easy to take on holiday, for your camera and MP3 player batteries etc, because of its voltage and compact size. Highly recommended at the price.
Great charger & batteries
A great battery charger complete with four excellent AA batteries (also supports AAA's). The charger has a light that goes out when the charge is complete (from flat to full charge takes 4 to 5 hours) and the batteries seem to last a lot longer between charges than my last set (admittedly newness will have something to do with that). On top of all that they're damn good value. Recommended.
Goood value for money
I wanted a cheap, reliable battery charger. This fitted the bill perfectly, and I got 4 batteries with it too!
