Customer Reviews

This really shouldn't work, but......5
4 middle aged men standing in front of laptops - almost motionless. This really should not work as a Live DVD, but there is just something about it that makes me return to it over and over again.
The sound is excellent, the colours are intense, and there is a formality and minimality to the video direction that perfectly compliments the music.
And, best of all - you even get a track performed by the legendary Kraftwerk Robots.
You only have to watch the MTV live bonus track (with swooping cameras) to realise what a work of genius this Live DVD is.

The Wait Is Over!5
Kraftwerk - Minimum - Maximum (EMI DVD 336 2949)

For a long time one of the most enigmatic, charismatic and musically adventurous bands in the history of electronic/rock/dance music, the German band Kraftwerk have recently been enjoying something of a purple patch. After many long years of silence they released an album of new material, toured the world, released a double live album and now we have the double DVD package recording the exceptional performances from that world tour. I think it is fair to say that Kraftwerk are probably the most static performers in the history of rock, standing behind their keyboard/laptop stands and barely moving for the two hours of the gig - and yet, thanks to a dynamic light and video show projected on three huge screens behind them the four members of the band offer a powerful show that put most other bands to shame. This double DVD contains twenty tracks - a lot of old classics such as The Man Machine, Radio Activity, Autobahn, The Model, Computer World, Numbers, Trans Europe Express, and the audience pleasing The Robots. And then there is the new material, Tour De France 03, Vitamin, Elecktro Kardiogramm and Aero Dynamik. An introduction and greatest hits rolled into one excellent package, this DVD set [and the audio CD set too] confirm that Kraftwerk are one of popular music's greatest innovators.

Man Machine Machine Machine Maaaaachiiiiine!!!!!!5
This is a fantastic live show by the legendary and hugely influential electronic band Kraftwerk.

The band stand motionless, each behind a laptop/mixing unit/keyboard setup producing electronic ryhymic technopop. Behind them 3 huge screens show visuals to accompany the music (old footage (ie trains for Trans Europe Express. people on bikes for Tour De France etc), retro syle computer graphics and more state of the art graphics as well). Even though the band hardly move the show looks spectacular-excellent sound quality, great visuals and the impression that these guys are 'working' like machines to produce the music rather than acting like more typical bands.

It works a lot like a greatest hits package-great choice of tracks and hardly any duff moments-this is consistantly entertaining-well worth watching if your a Kraftwerk fan.

The day after buying this I showed it to a couple of friends who were unfamilir with Kraftwerk and we all started (with the aid of a few drinks) singing along to Man Machine within the first 5 minutes-Good omen for the unititated as well perhaps?
