Editorial Reviews
CD Description
Derided in its time for the frequent overblown publicity campaigns of its manager Terry Knight, the late-1960s and early-'70s rock behemoth Grand Funk Railroad nevertheless achieved consistent chart success until the mid-'70s. This set collects many of the songs that made the outfit one of the early '70s' most popular bands, including "We're an American Band", "Mean Mistreater", and their cover of Little Eva's '60s hit, "The Loco-Motion".
Customer Reviews
When will the record co learn?.
Not into grand funk. ?. this is a good place to start, but there are also many more better tracks which should of been selected, what I mean is capitol records keep pumpin out greatest hits and best ofs ,but when I think of all the albums they have made I just think its a dam shame they dont ask the gfr fans for a poll of fav tunes .if you have never heard, little johnny hooker from Shinin on, or save the land from e plurius funk. you aint lived I could go on ,this is a good starter cd but not a brilliant compilation .having looked at the rock champions cd I would buy it then the second and third studio albums!!
Grand Funk Railroad
If you like good rock'n'roll from the early 70's you can do no better than Grand Funk Railroad. No chart action in the UK but extremely popular in the US with 2 number ones on the Billboard chart -"We're An American Band" and "The Locomotion", both included here. This is quite simply a great collection by a band who symbolises the golden age of rock.
