DVD Description
Peep Show Series 3 continues to follow the domestic adventures of Mark (David Mitchell) and Jeremy (Robert Webb)--two quirky flat mates who live in South London. Jeremy is an aimless waster and wannabe musician, while Mark is a socially-awkward 50 year-old trapped in the body of a twenty-something. What stands out about "Peep Show" is its finely honed script and strong lead performances by the show's creators, David Mitchell and Robert Webb. The fact that viewers are able to hear the innermost thoughts of Mark and Jez as they encounter various problems makes their characters all the more vulnerable and sympathetic. The result is a well-observed comedy for anyone who spends life at the mercy of their own hesitant thoughts (...and who doesn't?).
Synopsis
Mark Corrigan and Jeremy 'Jez' Osborne are always caught up in some form of malaise, constantly at each other's throats as they struggle to find a direction in life. While Jez has unrealistic aspirations of becoming a musician, Mark is stuck in an interminable office job, where the object of his affections--co-worker Sophie--is the only thing which keeps him sane. In Peep Show Series 3, Jeremy tries to get over his disastrous marriage to his ex-'visa wife' Nancy by embarking on a series of ill-fated relationships with women--one of whom is Mark's sister. In the meantime, Mark has finally managed to start dating Sophie--only to discover she's being relocated to Bristol!
Customer Reviews
Great programme, rubbish DVD
Peep Show is one of the best sitcoms of recent years. Certainly, it's my favourite, which is why I've been looking forward to the release of the third series for quite some time.
Unfortunately, having bought it I now find that I cannot watch it. Why? Because of a little thing called DRM. Or, to put it another way, they have added a piece of software called Macrovision RipGuard to the DVD thus rendering it completely unwatchable in a computer DVD drive which, by unfortunate coincidence, is what I use to view DVDs.
Since Channel 4 have decided that I cannot watch a DVD which I have legally bought, I will be returning it to the shop and I will get the episodes off bittorrent instead. How ironic.
DVD doesn't work
Agree with the other reviewer about the DVD not working. Also despite what Amazon has said above that the DVD will work on all other DVD players is untrue. It doesn't work on my Mac, but it also doesn't work on my standard DVD player. Shame as this is a quality show. The manufacturers really need to sort this out.
Just won't work!
I emailed Channel4 to ask why these disks don't work, and received an email saying they DO play on PC DVD players and the problem is down to a 'bad batch'. I have however bought three of these disks, purportedly from three different batches in two different stores and not a single one has worked. As much as I love the Peep Show, the hassle of buying these disks and having to return them time after time is just not worth the hassle - I will make sure I tape it off the television next time!
